From left to right: Valerie Idada-Parker, Megan O'Connor, Debra Barksdale, Carla Jones, and Catherine Madigan

The inaugural class of the SON’s DNP degree program graduated on December 14 among friends, family, and enthusiastic colleagues. The students comprise the first class of DNP students to graduate since the SON began accepting applications to the DNP program in 2013.

The five students in the first class include Heather Boykin, DNP, MSN, RN, ANP-BC; Valerie Idada-Parker, DNP, MSN, RN, PMHNP-BC; Carla Massengill Jones, DNP, MSN, RN, NE-BC; Catherine K. Madigan, MSN, RN, NEA-BC; and  Megan O’Connor, MSN, RN.

Each student defended a DNP project in which they conducted quality improvement or a practice improvement project. The practice problems they chose to address reflect the diversity of experience and interests each student has brought to the program. To read more about their projects and see photos from their defenses, visit the SON website.

Congratulations once more to our fabulous first class of DNP graduates!
