Healthy Children 2013 Pediatric Nursing Update – November 15, 2013
The William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education

The health of children and adolescents in the United States and in North Carolina continues to be a public health priority, as national and state goals and objectives for improving health fail to be achieved.  This full-day program will focus on several key areas of Healthy People 2020 that target child and adolescent health, with topics including caring for overweight and obese children in acute and primary care, sexual & gender identity issues, online safety, and drug & alcohol abuse.

Laura Emerson Edwards, the Director of Healthy North Carolina, will discuss the state of child health in NC, and describe the public health goals of Healthy North Carolina 2020 — while clinical experts will share information about caring for patients with these concerns. Participants will come away with a broad understanding of the evidence-based national and state goals for pediatric health, as well as concrete clinical tools to help children and youth to be as healthy as possible.
