Alumni Bring SON History to the Classroom

A classroom full of first year BSN students had the opportunity to hear what it was like at the School of Nursing more than 50 years ago thanks to an alumni panel that included Martha Levitan and Barbara Self, who both graduated in 1957. They roomed together during nursing school and showed the students their version of a laptop – a “portable” typewriter. Self told the students how she and friends designed the nursing pin that is still used by the school today. Levitan discussed her nursing career and some of the difficult decisions surrounding keeping her patients’ well-being first.
