‘As a donor, it was my best experience yet!’

“I was absolutely in awe of all three young ladies – so articulate, poised and candid about their experiences at UNC. As a donor, it was my best experience yet! My mother would have been so proud to have her name honored by gifts to these inspiring young nursing students.”

Jo-Anne Trowbridge Martin (BSN '69) is pictured with Leann Edwards, Amanda Love, and Amber Thomas, undergraduate recipients of the Ann Pierce Trowbridge Scholarship.

Those words summarize what Jo-Anne Trowbridge Martin (BSN ’69) felt after meeting the recipients of the Ann Pierce Trowbridge Scholarship she established in memory of her mother who was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 72.

“I realized that the gift of scholarships does not have to be the final connection with these students,” Jo-Anne adds. She plans to offer her support as a job reference and in career advice. “Not just as a donor, but as an Alum, I will always be there for them.”

You too can have an experience like Jo-Anne by establishing an endowment fund. A pledge (payable over 5 to 7 years) with a $2,000 gift now establishes a named fund. A $50,000 pledge will create a scholarship fund to support an undergraduate or master’s student, and a $100,000 pledge will start a doctoral student fund.
