New Faculty Research Fund Promotes Innovation and Provides Support

Many School of Nursing faculty members are engaged in ground breaking research aimed at:

Preventing and managing chronic illness,

Eliminating health disparities,

Improving healthcare quality and patient outcomes,

Understanding the biobehavioral and genetic bases of health and illness,

Developing innovative approaches to translating research to practice.

Young faculty who are just starting a program of research or who are in the fledgling stages most often need seed money to launch or continue their projects.  Think of entrepreneurs

who rely on venture capitalists to make the investment in developing a promising technology or scientific breakthrough.  New researchers don’t have the benefit of having secured the large federal and foundation grants that their more experienced mentors have garnered to complete a major research study.  Yet, they have worthy projects that need investment.  The return on investment results in improved patient care.

The Faculty Research Fund can also be used for:

Supporting pilot studies,

Providing bridge funding for successful researchers experiencing a funding  hiatus, and

Helping senior researchers move into new areas to achieve important research goals that advance nursing science and the evidence base for nursing practice.

Our goals are to make awards to faculty members whose proposed study demonstrate significance, scientific merit, and promise for attracting external funding.

We are seeking benefactors who, through their generosity, will open opportunities for our faculty to take their projects to the next level, give them the support they need, and, in doing so, contribute to the future health and well-being of our state and nation.
