Alumni Award Recipients and Leading Donors Honored at Reception
Nearly 100 School of Nursing alumni, donors, students, faculty and friends gathered on Friday evening, Sept. 25, to celebrate excellence in student and alumni achievement and to recognize the donors whose support is so vital to the school’s success. The Alumni Board recognized Cheryl Moseley Gibson, BSN ’92, as the Carrington Award for Community Service recipient. Lt. Col Mona Bingham, PhD ’02,

received the G.O.L.D. (Graduate of the Last Decade) Award, and Sara Blaylock Flynn, BSN ’55, received the Alumna/us of the Year award posthumously.
Dean Kristen M. Swanson addressed the attendees, praising the award recipients, thanking our donors for their support and providing a brief update on the activities surrounding the School. Alumni board member Tiffany Gibson, MSN ’06, also spoke, sharing the story of her journey through nursing education and the influences that molded her career and continue to encourage her to strive for further accomplishments. SON Foundation Board President Denise Darden, BSN ’77, wrapped up the evening by recognizing the donors who make the great work of the Foundation possible.
