the Dean’s Office. A lot has happened since Aug. 1. I have sold my home in Seattle and bought my new home in Chapel Hill. My furniture should be here any day. I figured out that 15-501 and I-40 will get me just about anywhere that I need to be.

About 10 days ago I flew back to Seattle to supervise the packing and moving of my home. When I returned to Carolina, there were students everywhere! I recently snuck into the back of a large class in Fox Auditorium. My heart swelled with pride as I witnessed UNC undergrads in action. I get so excited thinking about the amazing and diverse career that awaits Carolina nursing students.

These past few weeks have been a fast-paced experience. I have spent my first month getting acquainted with the faculty and staff and realize, now more than ever, the quality of this School and the high caliber of those who work here. As this academic year begins and I continue to settle into my role, I look forward to the opportunity to meet many of you over the coming months, whether at alumni, continuing education or School events. Please find me and introduce yourself. Developing a relationship with you will, undoubtedly, be a highlight of my deanship.
